Marrakech

If you love Moroccan traditions and modernism simultaneously, I would suggest you go to Marrakech.

Marrakech is located at the bottom of the Atlas Mountains. It is assuredly the tourist capital of the kingdom, and the 4th largest city in the country, after Casablanca, Rabat, and Fez.

Marrakech is a majestic city with its palaces, its medina, its lush gardens, mosques, and old Koranic schools ... surrounded by ocher walls (hence the nickname). On the other side, Marrakech is the 1st Moroccan tourist destination, luxurious, modern, and indulgent.

Marrakech

To visit Marrakech is, above all, to discover a colorful city, a vibrant atmosphere! There is incredible excitement there! The noises, the smells, the flavors… we feel caught in an absolute sensory whirlwind! But to visit Marrakech is also to discover its cultural richness, emblematic monuments, and varied landscapes, between the ocher alleys of the medina, the palm groves, or the Atlas mountains! There are many things to see and do in Marrakech, but the surroundings also have some pleasant surprises in store! This is why, depending on the time you have to visit Marrakech, I also encourage you to explore the surroundings or, at least, take part in a day trip to discover them!

Marrakech is subdivided into two parts:

Historic city: surrounded by high walls for nearly 10 kilometers, is the historic center of Marrakech. We stay there in magnificent traditional houses transformed into hotels or guest houses. In the medina, we find the souks so popular with tourists and the Jemaa El Fna square, which bears the international image of Marrakech. Its alleys intertwined like a labyrinth and the thousands of stalls bring happiness and change of scenery to visitors. The city's symbol, the minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque dating from the 12th century, is visible for miles.

The new (or modern) city: there are many hotel complexes, luxury shops, banks, tea rooms, and café terraces...

Marrakech: What is the best time to visit it?

The best time to visit Marrakech is in March-May or September-November. In these months it will be beautifully mild and sunny but not too hot. The winter months can still be lovely and are a great time to visit if you want to ski in the Atlas Mountains.
